Wadesboro - Rev. Travis Arthur Woody, 86, died Friday, February 2, 2012 in the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC.
Funeral services will be 6:00PM Sunday in Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Goudelock officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday in the Cantley Family Cemetery, Rock Creek, WV.
Travis was born in Dorothy, WV, on February 4, 1925, a son of the late Frederick Arthur and Lucy Jane Fisher Woody. He was a retired pastor serving a number of Independent Baptist churches for more than forty years. Travis was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine, and a son, Larry Travis Woody.
Suvivors include his wife, Nezzie Williams Woody of the home; one son, Alan Woody of Charleston, WV; one daughter, Karen (Steve) Carrick of Gastonia, NC; one step-son, Ray (Pam) Newton Jr. of Kingsport, TN; and one step-daughter, Diane (Jack) Moore of McFarlan.
Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Kristopher (Felicia) Woody, Brett (Tara) Rubin, Katie Carrick, Will Carrick, Travis Woody, Tyler Woody, Alison Woody, James (Monica) Moore, Jerry (Traci) Moore, Melissa (Aaron) Taylor, and Andrea Self; and sixteen great-grandchildren, Ethan Woody, Kimberly Rubin, Fiona Rubin, Sava Rubin, Leo Rubin, Aleksandrya Woody, Kristopher Woody Jr., Jaclyn Moore, Janice Moore, Dylan Moore, Delana Moore, Nathan Self, Megan Self, Colin Self, Matthew Taylor, and Andrew Taylor.
