Virginia Ruth Pratt Mrs. Woodburn

MORVEN - Mrs. Virginia Ruth Pratt Woodburn, 83, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Anson Health and Rehabilitation in Wadesboro. Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, September 19, 2015 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Whitlow officiating. Interment will follow in Morven Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Virginia Ruth was born November 22, 1931 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late Vincent Parson Pratt and the late Mildred Sheppard Pratt. She was a graduate of Morven High School and attended Phieffer College. She worked for a number of years with Anson County Schools as a Teacher's Assistant at Morven Elementary School. She was a former member of Morven Town Council. Following her husband's retirement from the US Air Force, Virginia played the piano and organ for 30 years for both her church and community wide services. Virginia grew up as a member of the Morven United Methodist Church. Following her and her husband's return to Morven, she became a faithful member of the Morven Baptist Church, although she still enjoyed attending worship services with her friends at the Methodist church when she could. Surviving are her husband, James Lyndon Woodburn of the home; her daughters, Lynda and Susan Woodburn both of Morven; her nieces and nephews, Starr Pratt Parker, Charlotte Pratt Howard, Cindy Pratt Williams, Chuck Pratt, Robin Pratt and Steve Woodburn and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Vincent 'VP' Pratt, Jr., Martin Sheppard Pratt, Benjamin Buchanan Pratt and nephew, George 'GIP' Pratt. Virginia Ruth will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother. Music was one of her greatest loves and she enjoyed sharing her talents and gift of music with her family and friends. She understood what an integral part music played in church services and community gatherings and how music could speak to a person's heart. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Friends of Hampton B. Allen Library, 120 S. Greene St., Wadesboro, NC 28170 or to Anson County Animal Shelter, 101 S.
