WADESBORO-Mrs. Vivian Smith Flake, 87, died Saturday, December 3, 2016 at her home in Wadesboro.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM Monday, December 5, 2016 at Brown Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends Monday for one hour prior the service beginning at 1:00PM in the church and other times at her home.
Vivian was born January 15, 1929 in Lancaster County , SC a daughter of the late Dee V. Smith and Lyda Lee Hammond Smith. She was a longtime and faithful member of Brown Creek Baptist Church as well as the Brown Creek community. A gentle and humble person, she will always be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her sons, Gayford Flake of the home and Kim (Susan) Flake of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, Jerry Lynn ( LeaAnne) Flake of Oakboro, Melissa Corl of Concord, Amy (Sean) OBrien of Concord, Karen ( Mark) McElroy of Charleston, SC, Shannon (Douglas) Marion of Cornelius, Stacy (Rick) Little of Wadesboro, Rachel Lea Flake of Wadesboro, Jack Flake of Wadesboro, Darrell (Emily) Marsh of Peachland and Dustin (Carey) Marsh of Ansonville; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are her daughter-in-law, Kelly Rogers Flake of Wadesboro; and her sisters, Sara Horne of Charlotte, Annie Lee Winfield of Wadesboro and Patsy Smith of Wingate.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Flake; her son, Jerry Flake; and three siblings.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Annie Crawford, Polly Burns and Rosa Wall for their loving care and faithful service to Vivian and her family.
