Walter Adam Mr. Downer, Jr

LILESVILLE - Mr. Walter Adam Downer, Jr., 87, died Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe. Services will be 3:00pm Sunday, January 11, 2015 by the graveside in Savannah United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kaye Fry officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:30pm until 2:30pm Sunday at Forestville United Methodist Church Fellowship hall. Walter was born March 5, 1927 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Walter Adam and Minnie Mills Downer. He retired from W.R. Bonsal Company with 35 years of service as a truck driver and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Surviving are his wife of nearly 59 years, Louise Clark Downer of the home; his children, Mickey Downer, Adam Downer and Terri Goodwin all of Lilesville; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Katherine Dianne Downer and sisters and brothers, Sadie Goodwin, Ruby Winfree, Charles Downer and James Downer.
