ROCKINGHAM - Mr. Walter Lampley, Jr., 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 27, 2015 at his home.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Sweet Haven Church with Rev. Mitchell Roller officiating. Entombment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will greet friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Monday, March 30, 2015 at Sweet Haven Church and other times at the home.
Walter was born April 24, 1922 in Richmond County, NC a son of the late Walter and Annie Florence Biggs Lampley.
He owned and operated Airport Garage for a number of years prior to opening Lampley's Used Cars in Rockingham. When he retired he had been in car sales for more than 40 years and at the time of his death was the oldest car dealer in Richmond County.
Walter was a man of integrity and great faith. He not only believed, he lived his faith and was a shining example to his family and friends. He was a member of Sweet Haven Church and prior to declining health had been an active member of the Gideon's International.
Surviving are his sons, Gary Lampley of Rockingham and Gene (Bernice) Lampley of Mt. Gilead; his grandchildren, Shelby (John) Johnson of Laurel Hill, Amy (Jason) Stonesifer of Southern Pines, Gene (Dana) Lampley, Jr., Donald Lampley and Michelle Oliver all of Rockingham and Brad (Lindsey) Frazier of Michigan; 20 great-grandchildren; his nieces and nephews and their families all of whom he loved and special friends, Max, Sylvia and Michelle Brigman and Danny and Barbara Deberry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Hazel Jordan Lampley and Dorothy Perdue Lampley and brothers and sisters, Grover Lampley, McKinnon Lampley, Mary Caulder, Ruth Watts, Margaret Dawkins, Mildred Bennett, and Ida Ingram.
