WADESBORO - Mrs. Willie Baker Carpenter, 87, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Ambassador Health and Rehab in Wadesboro surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be 3:00pm Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Deep Creek Baptist Church with her husband, Rev. D.W. Carpenter, Rev. Ronnie Grizzle, Rev. Mark Perko and Rev. George Senter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 2:00pm until time for the service.
Willie was born September 6, 1925 in Anson County, NC a daughter of the late William Jackson Baker, Sr. and the late Nezzie Chewning Baker. Following her mother's early death, she was raised by her step-mother, Molly Forbes Baker.
She was very supportive of her husband in his ministry; she taught children's Sunday school and enjoyed working with the youth of the church. She also loved her family, and after her retirement from Hornwood after 40 years of service, she cared for her great-niece and great-nephews.
Surviving are her loving and faithful husband of 64 years, Rev. D.W. Carpenter of the home; her brothers and sister, Richard (Joanne) Baker of Stallings, Edward (Sarah Frances) Baker and William 'W.J.' (Brenda) Baker, Jr. both of Wadesboro and Anna Murdock of Lilesville; her sister-in-law, Edna Baker of Wadesboro; special nieces, who are much like their own children, Linda (Eric) Pilkenton of Lenoir and Debbie Jarman of Wadesboro; great-nephews and great-niece who are like their grandchildren, Adam Jarman of Charlotte, Justin Jarman and John (Nicole) Jarman both of Apex and Emily Jarman of Wadesboro and many other nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Myrtle (Matthew) Morris, Iva Mae Baker, Irene (Ballard) Knotts, and brothers, Thomas (Eva) Baker, Norman (Izzy) Baker, Gene (Elle) Baker and Hurley Baker.
