Manitowoc, Wisconsin - Yeu Xiong Vang (June 6, 1915), passed away peacefully in Manitowoc, WI on May 15, 2016 at the age of 100. She was born in Nam Nyong Xa Tong (Laos) to Tong Moue and Mai Xiong and was 1 of 8 children. She had 4 sisters (Ka, Mee, Yee and Ya) and 3 brothers (Leng, Chue Tang and Tong).
Yeu immigrated to the United States in 1976 with her devoted son-in-law, Cher Koua Chang and daughter, Xu Chang. She had her youngest daughter May Vue and step-grandson, Chue Vang, by her side.
At a very early age, Yeus mother taught her all about medicines- how to find them and what to use them for. She was known for her herbal knowledge and people came from near and far to experience the healing and wellness that was offered by her medicine hands. Throughout most of her life she found joy in simple past-times like intricate need work, laughing and story-telling with friends, family, and her beloved grandchildren. Her love was unconditional. She will forever be remembered as a beautiful mother, generous sister and friend, and the most loving grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
Yeu is survived by sister Ya Vang, five children (Mai Bao Yang, Xu Chang, Eugene Vang, See Vue, and May Vue), 37 grandchildren and more than 60 great grandchildren.
Services to honor her life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro, NC beginning at 10:00AM. Services will conclude on Sunday and interment will follow in the Vang Family Cemetery in Polkton.
